European Respiratory Society (ERS) 2026 Diagnostics Industry Report

The 36th ERS Congress took over Fira Gran Via in Barcelona from 5–9 September, pulling more than 22,000 delegates into the largest respiratory meeting in the world. Built with the European Lung Foundation around the theme United for better breathing, the program ran from asthma and sleep apnea through pneumonia, pulmonary fibrosis, autoimmune lung disease and lung cancer, delivered across postgraduate courses, skills workshops, mini symposia and clinical case sessions. ERS is a science meeting rather than a manufacturing show, and that is exactly what makes it worth reading commercially. The technologies filling the exhibition halls in Barcelona — connected inhalers and adherence platforms, home and ambulatory diagnostics, sleep and airway management, point-of-care spirometry — are the ones being adopted at the bedside now and acquired eighteen months later. In respiratory, clinical evidence and reimbursement tend to arrive first and buyers follow. Read our ERS 2026 Respiratory Industry Post-Show Report for a fuller view of where M&A in respiratory devices and diagnostics has been, and where it is heading.
