Medical Technology Ireland 2026 Industry Report
Few trade shows sit this close to their own supply chain. Medical Technology Ireland ran September 23–24 at Ballybrit Racecourse in Galway, a short drive from Medtronic, Boston Scientific, Merit Medical, TE/Creganna and Zimmer Biomet — the cardiovascular cluster that has made the west of Ireland one of the densest medical device manufacturing regions in Europe. Billed as Europe's second-largest design and manufacturing show, it brought more than 300 specialist suppliers onto the floor, with both the exhibition and the conference free to attend. The program tracked what the room is actually living with: the outlook for medtech beyond 2026, AI and regulatory risk, the ISO 10993 revisions to biological evaluation, commercialization and international expansion, plus a day-two panel on building a more resilient supply chain and the Women in MedTech Forum. That resilience question is also a valuation question. Buyers are paying for EU and nearshore capacity, qualified second sources, and quality systems that hold up under inspection — and the transatlantic tariff picture still has not settled.
